(S)KRETANjA FILIPINSKOG ROMANA OD XIX do XXI VEKA

Filipini, jedina katolička zemlja Azije, iznedrila je specifičnu kulturu.
Konstituisanje filipinskog romana počelo je još 1887. romanima Hozea Rizala,
intelektualca i nacionalnog heroja. Od tada, filipinski roman prolazi kroz
razne faze, od kojih svaka rezultira dragocenim piscem, od kojih su Karlos
Bulosan, Nikomades Hoakin, Sionil Hoze (pre svih - pisac legendarnog romana
Frka), Edgardo M. Rejes, Ili Luahati Bautista postali pisci svetskog
prestiža. Ponekad epigonski u odnosu na zapadnjačke formalističke izazove,
filipinski moderni roman je ostao autentičan u dovoljnoj meri da ga
sagledavamo i izučavamo kao posve autohtonu odrednicu.
